Written Off: America's Failure to Educate Dyslexic Children

Released

2020

Parents and teachers tell the story of a school changing how dyslexic children learn, and the public system that left them behind.

Dyslexics are an underserved segment of the public school student body. Dyslexia isn't as much a disability as it is a whole set of abilities that non-dyslexics don't have, and the public education system is not equipped to teach dyslexics in a way they can learn. Schools like Lakes and Bridges are paving the way by offering free education directed at students with dyslexia.

Now available on Prime Video and Tubi.

Directed by Collins Abbott White

A must see film for educators in what needs to be done to help the 20% of the population that has dyslexia. We can do better!

It was a pleasure working with Collins White on this story about a school that is making a difference in so many lives. It not only tells about the hardships dyslexic students face in public school but the impact on their families as well.

Beautiful, life changing documentary. A story of how a few women worked to change the trajectory of many kids’ lives through the gift of education. One of those kids is my son and I will be forever grateful. And I am so thankful this story is being told.
